Statement
Mi investigación artística se centra en el cuerpo, el paisaje y las tradiciones culturales. En parte de mis proyectos hablo desde el cuerpo. De lo que pasa hacia dentro y también de lo que pasa hacia afuera. Entiendo el cuerpo como percepción, memoria, movimiento y presencia. Es el espacio donde las cosas suceden y un lugar de resistencia. Inspirada en mi biografía creo imágenes performativas que exploran las nociones de identidad, pertenencia e influencias sociales normativas. Estas imágenes buscan intimar con el público. Otra parte de mis proyectos estudia cómo el cuerpo construye el paisaje a partir del recuerdo. Utilizo el paisaje recordado para (re)conectar con la Naturaleza. El recuerdo no sólo viene de mi memoria sino de pasadas generaciones que habitan en mi. Del mismo modo pienso que el espectador completa la obra con sus propios recuerdos. Creando lugares donde el público se ve enfrentado al paisaje busco evocar la memoria de experiencias sublimes como sentir el viento, los árboles, las hojas, el prado, las montañas, el agua o la piedra. En mis últimos proyectos indago vestigios culturales del pasado infiltrados en nuestra sociedad contemporánea y cómo éstos se han resignificado a lo largo del tiempo y la historia. Generalmente en mi producción adopto diferentes lenguajes para construir un acercamiento sutil y poético que se vea reflejado en la materialidad. Exploro el lenguaje de la escultura y la instalación a través de la fotografía, el textil, el video, la performance y la poesía. Subvierto disciplinas al descontextualizar los soportes tradicionales para aplicarlas en la construcción de objetos y estructuras reevaluando la bidemensionalidad de algunos medios. En mi trabajo no me interesa mostrar una hiperrealidad que se pueda entender desde lo racional, en su lugar, me interesa incitar sueños que evoquen realidades.
Statement
My artistic research focuses on the body, landscape and cultural traditions. In part of my projects I speak from the body. Of what happens inside and also of what happens outside. I understand the body as perception, memory, movement and presence. It is the space where things happen and a place of resistance. Inspired by my biography I create performative images that explore notions of identity, belonging and normative social influences. These images seek to intimately engage with the audience. Another part of my projects studies how the body builds the landscape from memory. I use the remembered landscape to (re)connect with Nature. The memory does not only come from my memory but from past generations that inhabit me. In the same way I think that the viewer completes the work with his or her own memories. By creating places where the public is confronted with the landscape I seek to evoke the memory of sublime experiences such as feeling the wind, the trees, the leaves, the meadow, the mountains, the water or the stone. In my latest projects I examine cultural traces of the past infiltrated into our contemporary society and how these have been resignified over time and history. Generally in my production I adopt different languages to build a subtle and poetic approach that is reflected in materiality. I explore the language of sculpture and installation through photography, textiles, video, performance and poetry. I subvert disciplines by decontextualizing traditional supports in order to apply them to the construction of objects and structures, re-evaluating the bidemensionality of some media. In my work I am not interested in showing a hyper-reality that can be understood from the rational, instead I am interested in inciting dreams that evoke realities.

Tamara Jacquin (1986, Chile) es titulada en Arquitectura en la Universidad de Valparaíso (Chile), también ha realizado estudios en L’École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Bretagne (Francia). Posee un Máster de Producción Artística de la Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (España) y un Máster Universitario de Investigación en Arte y Creación de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (España). Desde el 2014 sus obras se han expuesto y proyectado en exposiciones, festivales, bienales y ferias en diversas ciudades de España y otros países como Italia (Venecia y Génova), Grecia (Atenas), Alemania (Leipzig), México (Ciudad de México) y Cuba (Camagüey). Ha participado en programas de residencias como PILOTENKUECHE (Leipzig), FAVELab (Atenas), Casa de Velázquez (Madrid), Tabacalera Cantera (Madrid), Residencias de Arte en Ayllón (Ayllón) y Fundación Bilbao Arte (Bilbao). Además ha obtenido becas y premios como el Premio Art Nalón (Langreo, 2020), el Premio Sculpture-Network de la Feria de Arte Sculto (Logroño, 2019), la Beca de residencia en el extranjero para jóvenes artistas de la Comunidad de Madrid (Madrid, 2019), la Beca de Ayudas Específicas de Casa de Velázquez (Madrid, 2017), la beca Tabacalera Cantera de Tabacalera Promoción del Arte (Madrid, 2017), la beca FONDART otorgadas por el Gobierno de Chile (2016, 2017), la Beca de Residencia en Ayllón (Ayllón, 2016), la Young Talent Scholarship de la International Summer Academy of Fine Arts and Media de Venecia (Venecia, 2016) y la Beca de Producción Artística de la Fundación Bilbao Arte (Bilbao, 2015). Tamara Jacquin (1986, Chile) has a degree in Architecture from the Valparaíso University (Chile), she has also studied at L’École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture de Bretagne (France). She has a Master’s Degree in Artistic Production from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) and a Master’s Degree in Research in Art and Creation from the Complutense University of Madrid (Spain). Since 2014 her works have been exhibited and projected in exhibitions, festivals, biennials and fairs in various cities in Spain and other countries such as Italy (Venice and Genoa), Greece (Athens), Germany (Leipzig), Mexico (Mexico City) and Cuba (Camagüey). Sobre mi
Desconozco la verdad. Aparecí en una ciudad de mar bravo y montañas elevadas. La bruma no solía llegar a casa, pero sí un viento salado. De las esquinas salían gatos. Por la noche, tal vez uno o dos, o tres, ya no sé cuántos, estaba dormida, solían posarse en mi cabeza. Poco a poco empujaban hasta arrimarte a la pared y apropiarse de la cama. Por las mañanas el sabor a té. Y por las tardes el aire frío del este.
